Reward

I am not so deluded or so desperate for affirmation that I believe I deserve the accolade "Perfect Teacher," but I will confess to taking a certain amount of pleasure from the fact that at least one child has felt the desire to express how happy she is in my class. That is the best thing about being a teacher, having the opportunity to make a positive impact upon a child's life and make them feel valued, appreciated and, to a certain degree, empowered. Yes, it's hard work, but little things like this make it all worthwhile.
