6.00pm

How the evenings are closing in but our garden does not have good sunsets so I appreciate the final burst of sunshine in the nearby field and woods.

I went in fear to my first U3A Spanish conversation class. I had been to the preliminary meeting but the had missed two sessions because of trips to the vet. I had realised that some of the people in the intermediate class that I wanted to attend had already had lots of lessons, private tutors or had lived in Spain. I have O level Spanish from the 1960s and recent experiences of not understanding the speed and accent of my Andalucian neighbours when we visit our house. But the little group were lovely and let me listen or query what they were saying if I didn't quite understand all of it. I managed to speak about 3 sentences and now feel that there is a bit of hope for me...never in Spain but with practice here in England I should be Ok!
