Good news; bad news
On the way to the airport this morning (early - 6.45) my son told me he's been recruited to play ice hockey for Edinburgh Eagles (the universities team) on Sunday against Newcastle Uni at Whitley Bay.
Great news.
He played against them 10 days ago, and their coach was impressed.
Eagles v Knights
The downside - I can't be there to watch.
Interesting timing too. 27 November was my late Dad's birthday. He played soccer for Aberdeen Uni, captained Scottish Universities against the English (at Whitley Bay, I think, strangely enough) and played for British Universities against the French.
His Grandad would be very proud. I am. Especially so in that this time last year he was unable to play at all because of a blood condition, and faced the real prospect of never being able to play again.
Amazing things, genes.
The Blip is Caffe Nero at the airport. Venue for my mid morning (8am) snack. Caught the barista gazing longingly out at the dawn. Guess she'd have started work about 4. Still managed a nice friendly smile when she served me.
She's not Scottish, of course.
