Seasonal delicacies

The wok doesn't get used much now my elder son is rarely here. When I took it down from its hook to make a stir fry I found it had become a nursery. A Mummy-Long-Legs cellar spider was supervising her brood of tiny spiderlings which were spread out over a tangled web. 
I quickly replaced the wok and used something else. 

Seven London schools are currently closed due to 'invasions', 'plagues' or 'infestations' of nigh-harmless false widow spiders, and will not re-open until the end of the month. Pest control firms hired to fumigate the premises will make a huge financial killing. Meanwhile a large number of children will  miss out on their education and families will be disrupted. The fear of spiders will be embedded in many more minds as horror stories are churned out by news and social media.
