Today's adventures included a scramble up to Peveril Castle for amazing views of Mam Tor, Black Tor & Castleton nestling below. We met a man who retired at 42 to open a junk shop, eat haslet, play darts and tell dirty jokes. He's now elderly but hasn't lost the sparkle in his eye, or rudeness in his jokes (see extra for junk shop). And then a stroll along Monsal Dale with views over Cressbrook Mill (see extra). Look carefully and you can just about see the cottages built by Arkwright to house the orphans gathered from the streets and workhouses of Manchester to work in the mill. The Cressbrook & Litton tunnels are incredible (see extra).
