Deadwood, collected, carved on, treated
Today was the Forest Bonsai Society of Ocala club meeting. The topic under discussion was junipers, different types, their physiology, growing needs and problems that can arise. It was a huge subject that generated a lively discussion, many questions and a lot of participation.
Todays post is of some collected juniper trunks that have been carved on to demonstrate the life vein, cambium, caudex tubules and a lot of other scientific names and processes. I was really surprised how attentive and thoughtful 30 some people were with a technical and rather dry subject.
The examples I photographed were very twisted and branchy, in a beautiful sort of way. It was nature at her finest. The meeting went 30 mins beyond the designated time people were still asking questions.
Fun and fascinating!
