Moving
The Exile moved out today! I shall miss her! But she has only moved up to her old house in the terrace up from me, the house next door to Friend actually. I got to know Friend along with Vegan Jo first, but became great friends with The Exile who bizarrely was never that close to Friend - they did not pop into each others houses for coffee, yet both of them would pop to me for coffee and I had meals with The Exile and her partner. It was great to be part of a family Sunday meal! I was so tearful when The Exile left for France, and now it seems so strange to be walking up the steps to her house again, particularly knowing Friend is no longer living next door.
We had just finished breakfast when nellie of The Woods arrived to collect two water containers from me, she is going to an Apple day with her apples to be pressed to make juice. We had a good chat about personal hygiene - the use of deodorant and the shaving of ones armpits and legs! How in Europe shaving is not the done thing, yet in the Uk and USA it is seen as abhorrent not to! The Exile was stunned to discover even her boys shave their private parts! There was a lot of sharing over what we did and did not shave, and much hilarity!
The move didn't go exactly to plan - her furniture from France was due to arrive at 4 pm, when I arrived at 5.30 to help with the moving of things within the house I found The exile, Party Girl and The compassionate Girls ex husband, The Carpenter, sitting on the kitchen floor drinking wine! Oscar went through a manic phase, jumping on party Girl who is not animal friendly! Isn't it always the way - cats and dogs go to those who really don't want them! I read somewhere it is about eye contact, the fact the human gives none to the animal, makes the animal perceive them as non threatening so they go to them!
By 7pm with still no sign or call from the furniture people, I suggested The exile phoned them - seems they could not get the ferry they intended to as it was full so they were getting a later one! Furniture would arrive at 9 am Sunday!! The exile came back to mine for a cup of tea and to use my Wi-Fi then went home tonged ready for a gig in the Village Hall. I couldn't go as Oscar is not yet used to being left. Just when I am ready to re-enter Calstock social life I get a dog who prevents me doing so! Still, an evening in watching Strictly was ok by me!
My blip is of the one touch of normality in The Exiles house which has no furniture except the large beanbag I gave her! When I went back to my house I felt overwhelmed by all my possessions, even after all the de-stuffocation I've done!
