Lunch time
Friday 5th October 2018
An early start. I met Anne at Kirkby station and we set off for Liverpool to see the Giants. When we arrived at St George's hall the boy and the dog, Xolo, were still asleep, snoring noisily.
At 10am on the dot they woke up and started their journey through the street. Remarkably in the crowd, we managed to meet up with SueT as planned quite easily. The little boy and Xolo walked a lot faster than I'd expected and we were constantly dashing ahead to get some good shots back at them, it was quite exhausting. The atmosphere was amazing as the crowd moved through the streets. Every now and then Xolo or the boy stopped. Xolo was funny as he interacted with the crowd. At one point he pulled a (new) soft toy from a dustbin and gave it to a small child who was just in front of us.
It was quite a walk up to Princes park where we stood and watched them for ages as they had lunch. It was then time for their afternoon nap.
We walked back into the centre in searched of lunch. The Cathedral was closed for filming and the next two restaurants we tried were full. We ended up at a Vietnamese restaurant and had a deliciously different two course meal before making our way back to the train.
A fabulous day out. The little boy and Xolo were so life-like. I am so pleased I didn't miss them.
