Right Away

It is the autumn steam gala at Great Central Railway from today until Sunday.  This is the ex LNER B1 1264 masquerading as 1251 in order to replicate the engines selected for the 1948 locomotive exchange trials 70 years ago.  Other engines from the trials and present at the gala are the ex Great Central Witherslack Hall, an ex Southern Region Bulleid Light Pacific and an ex LMS 8F.  Also present are a selection of the BR standard class locomotives that were designed by Riddles following these trials; these include Standard Classes 2 and 5, a Britannia Pacific and a 9F.
