Red Rose

It is believed that the Red Rose of Lancaster was the House of Lancaster's badge during the Wars of the Roses. Although there are doubts to this.
The Wars of the Roses were a series of dynastic wars fought between supporters of two rival branches of the royal House of Plantagenet: the houses of Lancaster and York. The first major battle was at St Albans; I wonder why they didn't pitch up somewhere in along the Pennines.
