Hard bridge pince nez glasses, chain and hook

Found these in a drawer and just looked them up on the internet. They are pince nez ( I did know that much) and probably from around 1880. The hook on them puzzled me because it is a funny shape and I could not imagine what it was for but I found out it was an earhook and was designed to fit around the ear for the pince nez to dangle from when not being worn. I have tried them on and they are really strong. They should raise a laugh at the pub.
