Small tortoiseshell
A busy day, beginning when my son turned up before breakfast, unexpectedly and on his way from Southampton to Guildford. It was lovely to see him.
But all in all, I didn't have much time for walking, a shame as it was another lovely day. Hazel and I did, however, go for a minor ramble on Barton Farm. It was on the way there that I saw this small tortoiseshell . Again, the first I've seen this year. It had arrayed itself very prettily on a michaelmas daisy (which I'd love to include in my wildflower list, but fear it's a garden variety).
I don't think there can be many more butterflies in the year though, do you?
Have a good Monday evening xx
