Forge
A sad day.
Worship services have been held at the Forge Community Centre every Sunday for the past 31 years, for most of that time as part of Cumbernauld Old Parish Church. Earlier this year North Lanarkshire Council advised us that, due to budget cuts, our Sunday let would not be continued beyond the end of September. So today marked the end (for now) of worship, not only at the Forge but also in the largest part of our parish, north of the M80 motorway.
We celebrated the Sacrament of Holy Communion and there was barely a dry eye in the house. It felt like a bereavement.
Next week, and for the foreseeable future, we'll have just the one joint service in the Parish Church. Sundays won't feel the same.
