Out in the Forth
A month that started with a trip through the Australian outback ended with a trip out on the Forth to see the custodian. Meles, who has been out to see the custodian a few times through the season, alerted us to the fact that today was the last day of the season on Inchcolm Island. You wouldn't have known if you had looked at the Historic Scotland website, Historic Scotland twitter, or the websites of the various boats that do trips out there. But we knew better ;-)
It was fun going out to see a mate in his domain. Quite the king of the castle (or Abbott of the Abbey, perhaps). And great that we were able to give meles a lift to SQF so that we benefited from her guided tour! The weather was blustery but mainly quite bright, with a few showers. One unexpected pleasure was that the boat trip back extended up under the three bridges at the end, before returning to Hawes Pier. We may not yet have been over the (still relatively) new bridge, but we have been under it.
Back here, we've had a quiet afternoon, with more discussions and phone calls. For various personal reasons, some planning blight has descended upon me, meaning that a whole bunch of things that I had planned to sort out this weekend haven't got done. But I have managed to re-read most of a text that really isn't my cup of tea, but which I did need to re-read.
