Nearly

... it so nearly could have been a disaster.

Gave the apples a liberal dusting with nutmeg instead of cinnamon.

Then realised I had no light brown sugar so had to use soft dark brown sugar instead.

It was so juicy it was bubbling like a witches cauldron in the oven. I decided rather than remove it from the loose bottom tin and have the juice run everywhere I had to excavate slices which didn’t end prettily.

It wouldn’t have won any prizes for presentation but by the gods it tasted heavenly!
