Almost Free

I was at a friend’s house today and when I left to come back home I passed these beautiful dahlias outside one of her neighbour’s houses. He had a whole garden full of them and he was selling these for 50p a stem. Money was to be left in a jar next to these buckets. So for £2, I went home with the giant one and three of the smaller ones. They look terrific in my kitchen!

He also had some gorgeous deep purple (almost black) ones, still on their stem in his garden. I resisted the temptation to go snip snip snip!
