Westward
A day exploring the Westside. It's very different from the north of the island, much less rugged and more gentle. Again, so much to see, but we fitted in a trip to Walls Regatta Club to see a display of knitwear and crafts, and had lunch of potato and chorizo soup with bannocks, which was just what we needed.
We went to visit a friend of Bodkin's who has a wonderful "polycrub", full of flowers and vegetables. See extra. It is an amazing construction and perfect for Shetland - and Orkney. We also admired her tree nursery, until the horizontal rain drove us back inside!
Home via Lerwick to see another friend of Bodkin's, who was having a sort out of fabric for a forthcoming sale. Huge piles of material and other bits and pieces suitable for patchwork. No, I am definitely not going to go along the patchwork route! I shall stick to knitting! More soup for tea, butternut squash and coconut this time - very exotic soup in Shetland - followed by chicken salad.
We got back home very late and very tired. All this gadding about and socialising is exhausting! Lovely to see Boris waiting for us by the peat fire. . . . in extras.
