All in a Day's Work
I believe dogs are happiest when they have jobs; with jobs, they're less apt to get bored and get into trouble. At least, I've found that to be true with my dogs. Cooper (the dog in front) is usually on KP duty, always at the ready to help out in the kitchen. We call him "the kitchen supervisor." If he happens to be outside and I open the refrigerator door, he'll hear it from anywhere in the yard and come running in through his little doggy door to make sure he doesn't miss anything.
Maisie, on the other hand, is happiest when she's outdoors. We call her the border patrol, as she is the one who has taken it upon herself to constantly run the perimeter of our property and alert us (and all of the neighbors) to any trespassing squirrels, turtles, herons, deer, opossums, or bears. We've had a black bear visit us three times, and Maisie the corgi-mutt, with Cooper's help, even treed it once.
Today there was something going on across the pond that had Maisie in a such a high state of alert that Cooper was called out for back-up. After two hours of their pacing and barking, I never did see what it was, but I never discount anything. Especially bears.
Note: I originally posted another shot but changed my mind. I've posted too many indoor blips of inanimate objects lately. Thanks to those who took the time to comment on the previous blip: brickmaker, katgirl, and whims.
