Small Copper
The Small Copper butterfly has been feeding in the garden and nearby. Today there was a pair on the small daisies near the house. They are quite difficult to photograph as although they rest for a few moments on each plant they hardly ever open their wings completely. Their conservation status is Low and they feed on the Sorrels and Broad Leave Dock - as you can see!
T is now tackling the last part of our harvest - Linseed. The yields are not great but this crop will pay for itself. It suffered in the drought and then started resprouting so there was a fair amount of greenery in with it. Fortunately a neighbour has offered to bale the holm and take it away for his own use. It is quite scratchy stuff so we are not keen to use it for bedding etc. Extra photo: Linseed, the first trailer load.
