No 137: Redshank
What a foul day! I wasn't going to be defeated by the awful weather, so after a hearty breakfast, I walked to the town centre here in Scarborough and got a bus to Filey in the hope of getting out to Filey Brigg. I walked about half a mile along the front and back, got a soaking for my trouble then warmed up with a cup of tea before throwing in the towel and getting a bus back to Scarborough. After changing into some dry clothes and warming up, I set off again on a tip from a contact, to South Shore to look for Med gulls. No joy. It was going to be an unsuccessful day from the point of view of a bird blip. Finally, the rain stopped, and as the sun was going down, the sky cleared. I saw some oystercatchers feeding on the beach, and then noticed this redshank. Not the best light, but hey, it was this or a frog in a puddle :-).
