Away
The opposite angle to my usual perspective on Valley Parade as I was in the away corner for a change. As an Evertonian I could not pass up the opportunity to watch some of our youngsters (U21s) in this Checkatrade Trophy fixture.
For a range of reasons this is not a popular competition, and after being in a record high crowd at Knaresborough on Saturday, tonight saw a record low attendance for a Bradford City first team fixture.
The game remained goalless until the last ten minutes when Everton took the lead. They should have seen the game out but shortly after had a player sent off which gave City the momentum to equalise in added time. 1-1 it finished, but in the bizarre world of the Checkatrade, this group fixture then went to a penalty shootout with the winners earning a bonus point. City won it 7-6, with just the one miss from fourteen penalties.
