Wide Wednesday: "Old"

I was feeling a bit stumped for today's Widwed challenge of "Old", when my trusty Editor came to the rescue again and suggested that I pop along to the local graveyard by the church.

We liked the light on this shot. The old gravestone in the foreground dates from 1860 - it's not the oldest by any means, but it's one of the best preserved. As with all graves, it tells a story: the married couple died aged 60 and 69 respectively, which I suppose was reasonably old for that era. The husband died first, on May 1st 1860, but sadly their son died later that year on December 9th, aged only 17; the wife survived for another 10 years.

Many thanks to Bobsblips for hosting Widwed - in spite of being on holiday!
