Music day
.... check this out.... an actual camera photo of my kid. A very rare occurrence these days! But today she was, by coincidence, attending the children's concert of a Chamber Music festival that I'm stewarding this week. It was delightful to see her so excited to be there and trying to buoy up her friends' enthusiasm. The majority of the kids were absolutely brilliant and it was such an engaging, well presented concert (piano duet of Carnival of the Animals, with poetry, a talk, question time and such). At one point though, a child behind Katie indicated to me that she was crying. I had to just ignore it - she was sat on the row with her teacher - but afterwards I asked her why she'd been crying. It was because people around her were talking and she really wanted to listen and enjoy it, and for them to be able to do the same. It was very sweet, I guess.
Anyway, the blip is Katie when she was chosen as one of six to volunteer to be eagles down the middle of the church. As you can see, she was very shy in this.....!
Musical theatre followed by band tonight, after a great morning piano practice. All in all, rather a musical day. In what will be quite a musical week really for us (even more so than normal!)
