Pholiota sp.?

I found this wonderful fungi this morning on the felled trunk of an oak tree. It has both a scaly cap and a scaly stem which makes me think its a member of the Pholiota' family or possibly a Lepiota but I haven't been able to find one with a dark cap. The caps are tight to the stems so I couldn't see the gills. Any suggestions?
