The Mighty Hunter
Moot looks as if he has just detected something with his supercat senses. Or maybe he's just squinting because the sun is so bright. He does look ready to spring into action. Or about as ready as he ever does.
It's been a quiet day at Moot Manor. I've been doing domestic things - shopping, cooking and tidying up after myself. A much better day than G is having.
G is away in the studio today. I don't think I've said before but she works in TV. She's seriously good at what she does - way better than I am at my job. She edits films, translates texts (actually she rewrites texts, presenters tend to dribble nonsense) and basically makes them watchable for a German audience. It's a real talent.
Think about it. You have a British documentary. There's a scene that lasts 5 seconds in Englisch. G also has that same 5 seconds but she has to find a way to translate what the presenter says into German so that the viewer here doesn't lose any information (the films have a German voice-over). That's really, really tricky.
She's working on a really rubbish film about The Great Fire Of London at the moment. They spent 9 hours yesterday trying to get something more than three presenters repeating the same sentence over and over again. Do not mention Pudding Lane or Farriner's Bakery to G. And it's probably better not to mention Samuel Pepys burying his cheeses in his garden either.
And because they couldn't finish yesterday, she's been back in the studio today. I've just had a message saying she probably won't be home until 8 tonight.
Dinner will be on the table (or ready to come out of the oven). And probably a large G+T will be waiting as well.
