When we cleaned out my mother's things(more than you can imagine) after she died, I came upon these candles. When I was little, my mother had a big stenciled black chest in their bedroom. Just thinking of it envelopes me in the faint aroma of wax. She stored our holiday decorations there, waxy seasonal character candles, pumpkins, pilgrims, choirboys and Santa. These Pilgrims and turkeys take me back to the innocent days of pretend.

For the Record,
This day came in cool with an overcast sun. I'll make I made my boiled, mashed butternut squash , mashed white turnip, a mushroom casserole and Cranberry sauce today. Tomorrow is our feast. We have some of T's family arriving tonight. The weather is clear, the roads will be jammed but unfortunately, I might be feeling a cold coming on, rats!
