The Flood

The heavy rain overnight fell on already sodden ground. Motorways and train tracks have flooded - many people haven't been able to come to work today. One of our collaborators from London was diverted at Castle Cary only to turn back home at Bristol.

As for me, I merely had to leap across muddy puddles and hide behind my brolly to avoid being splashed by cars.

Here is a shot of the river Exe, just before it reaches the overflow canal. At the bottom of this scene, there are some buildings that are probably rather damp right now!
