Blithewood

Fiona  had wanted to check out the gardens here for a while but had not been able to get there. It is a 19th century mansion that was the summer home of a PA coal baron and his wife, and then hers with her second husband. They rebuilt the original mansion (larger) after a fire and had the whole thing landscaped. It isn't quite as extensive as Longwood as her concentration seemed to be on trees more so than conservatories. But the trees are amazing and include a few giant sequoias . We wandered around the gardens which included a Japanese water garden  , a bamboo forest and a cutting garden.I loved the cutting garden. And I loved the stone arch entry to the rose garden.(Wish I could build that!)
All in all a nice weekend with a lot of walking with the middle child.
