St Peter Port
We arrived in Guernsey yesterday evening 15 hours after leaving home. It was touch and go whether we would get there after an abortive landing before being diverted to Jersey and a later 'slim chance" of managing to land at the second attempt. To a loud cheer the captain was successful.
Today after the earlier mist and rain had cleared we were rewarded with clear views looking towards the islands of Herm and Sark from above the port. Yesterday and today the ferries had been cancelled due to the weather and the sea here now looked relatively calm in the lee of the island. Our bus journey to the west, however, revealed the sea was still extremely rough.
It has been a good day with about 9 miles of walking and the promise of much to see despite its small size. We are so fortunate that we managed to land yesterday despite the scary moments.
