Proposals for wind farms always create controversy , in my constituency at least.
This poster recently appeared beside the spectacular road from Glendaruel to Dunoon (and has been damaged by wind twice , rather ironically) , along with a rash of things that look at first sight like "house for sale" signs and are, in that regard, a bit confusing. They all testify to an energetic campaign by some local residents, but there is also strong local support for the wind farm and the financial benefits it would bring to a remote and rural area which needs investment.
I have always said that where there is overwhelming and obvious community rejection then the developers should take heed (as they have done in some recent local applications) but that is not the case here.
A well attended public meeting hosted by the Colintraive & Glendaruel Community Council heard both sides of the argument some months ago and now it is planning law that will decide the application.
