Mountain Dahlia
Liparia Splendens of the family Fabaceae seen in Kirstenbosch this morning on a gorgeous sunny Spring day. We go back to California tomorrow.
When I first spied this flower I thought it belonged in the Protea family and was surprised to learn that it is not related.
It is also known as “nodding-head” for the drooping flowers.
Distribution Western Cape, South Africa.
