Taking The Biscuit

But in a good way.  As in tea and biscuits.

I prefer dark chocolate on my biscuits.  Milk chocolate just doesn't taste of much.  And white chocolate doesn't deserve the name.

From all that chocolate nonsense you can perhaps tell that my day was not filled with horror and anxiety.  Apparently I slept relatively well.  This is good.  I'll keep taking the drugs, and following the advice and I'll never give up.

According to dict.cc the German equivalent of "to take the biscuit" is "den Vogel abschießen".  This has me confused.  I'd translate that as "To shoot the bird down" and I'm struggling to see any connection to the Englisch.
