In search of a wheel

This is the second instalment of the saga of the trolley wheels. And I hope, the last.

I wanted to refurbish a set of tea trolley wheels, first shown HERE , but I have had to admit defeat and have spent several months trying to find an alternative.

This one shown here, finished in brass with a gold wheel centre, almost fits the bill in terms of size.

The wheel diameter is 75 mm as opposed to the original of 78 mm
The spindle (or peg) length 33 mm versus 35 mm
The spindle diameter is 1 mm or so thinner at 7 mm, which means that while it fits the existing cavity, the fit is not snug enough and if the trolley is lifted, the wheels come off the bus, sorry trolley.

Don’t lift the trolley, I hear you say.

However, the ride is quiet and smooth and as yet no coffee spillage from the large breakfast cup.

My morning teapot of Earl Grey tea has never been an issue so no change there.

I sincerely hope that you are not bored with this important, (perhaps SILLY)  chapter in our lives.
