Timpani solo

It’s been a CRAZY day! But a fun one.

First back to band of the new school year and a promotion to first clarinet for my little monkey (She was thoroughly delighted ).

The afternoon included a nap for Katie, due to late night dance rehearsals and an long evening coming up tonight!

Then late afternoon we headed out, in a bit of light rain, on the bikes. Which turned into a torrential downpour. We were heading to Multi Story Orchestra at the shopping centre. They are a full symphony orchestra who run workshops and concerts in car parks! We had an amazing time at the workshop based on Schumann’s Symphony No 2, a different workshop for each movement. In our 4th movement workshop, Katie was chosen to do a “timpani” solo- yes, on giant plastic tubs!

We stayed for some of the concert but not a lot as we had to head to the next event of the evening- a very large ceilidh being thrown by people from church. This was a really special night celebrating a selection of huge events for this family. It was fantastic to be part of and see so many friends, including a lot of old friends, return.

Final stop of the evening was Bs to watch the second half of the Last Night of the Proms. Katie was exhausted by this point and yet had a glorious time, especially when she saw her favourite flautist Moustache Man!
