Everyday I Write The Book

Putting your feet up

TGR and K have an effective symbiotic relationship. You could call them bookends.

After a lot of birthday shenanigans over three days this was something of a domestic recovery day. The Hedge Men turned up at 7.30 so I didn’t have scope for a lie in; before long they were bashing away with their cutting equipment and making life miserable for the neighbours. Everyone was actually very helpful (we’re a close knit community even if we do mind our own business) and young Jim was very dedicated to the task. “I’m a bit OCD” he said proudly (and why not?). Attention to detail was his hallmark. He took a shine to us especially when I made him a second cup of coffee (even though Jim never has a second cup of coffee at home).

I did a dump run. My first as a 60 year old. Another milestone. They threw an impromptu party for me; it’s been a long term relationship.

Crashed after that then went into town to buy a new shirt to wear tomorrow. Have to look the part for your own party. Had a quick beer in Cellar Magneval and compared escape room experiences.  In the evening we made food - really lovely tarts and salads - and played 221b Baker Street, a superior game. I got told off  for not sharing (mea culpa; I was over enthusiastic).

Loving this week. Looking forward to seeing people tomorrow. The big party … but size isn’t everything...
