Snap, crackle...........THUD

As I was working on computer, heard an odd creaking sound.

It was weird.

I did look around, couldn't see anything. Maybe it had come from upstairs.  I was not especially perturbed.

A little later, there was a crackle, I looked up in time, to see the light fitting, descending. 

It didn't land on the ground, but it did produce quite a spectacular thud, as the brittle plastic, split apart and the catch, twirled to the floor.

This got my attention..... my light fitting in the study, had popped off the roof.  Yes.  Popped off the roof.  

A closer investigation revealed, only one side of the light fitting had been screwed into the roof.  The other side, no hole, no screw.

The pressure must have been building for years and.............. tonight, it popped off the roof.

Jerry built. Really wish I had been smart enough to see this, when I bought it.



PS.  The light is still working, it's hanging on a thread, but like the energizer bunny, it's still going !  Grateful.  But, probably now at risk of electrocution.  Eish !
