Oliv

Today is my day off. I had a lazy morning and then roamed out into the sunny day. I decided last minute to stop at one of my favorite cafes here. It's called Oliv. They bought a new chair, I thought my Latte Machiatto would be very pretty sitting on it. I was right.

I am sure the patrons in the cafe, seemingly all here for the film festival, thought I was one of them - taking this "artistic" shot of my latte. I am not. Just your average humanitarian aid worker who's got a pension for good coffee, pretty colors and Mondays off.

It's supposed to be 7 Celsius tomorrow... Thinking of grabbing my swimsuit and laying in the sun :-) I forget what it feels like to be out of the 3-5's. I am so excited.

The truth is tomorrow is my meeting day. Starting at nine... and ending when it's all been taken care of. I can't say I look forward to it.

I started a book tonight that a friend leant me called Emergency Sex and Other Desperate Measures (about 3 people who work for the UN in peacekeeping missions.) I am forcing myself to go to sleep instead of continuing to read. I am compelled though and you shouldn't be surprised if the next time I blip I am doing so from Sri Lanka, Palestine, Liberia or Iraq... I hate the thought that there are people suffering that I could be helping and I am sitting comfortably on my couch listening to Sigur Rós and reading about it.

These are the kinds of things I am not supposed to think about on my day off...

It was a fantastic Latte. If you live in Berlin, stop by Oliv, you won't regret it.
