FLOWERS FROM A FRIEND

What do you do 
when your best friend 
who is more 
like a sister
needs you
but you live
so far away?
You pray
and text
and speak 
on the phone
and sometimes
even cry together.
You write
encouraging notes
hoping it will all
be enough
to see her through
difficult times
and then you pray
some more
for strength
and courage.
Sometimes 
life is hard
and all we can do
is just be
alongside
in whatever way
we can to help
and support.
