Pictorial blethers

Rushing

A walk up Glen Massan today came with the accompaniment of a great roaring from the gorge beside the road as the water that fell during yesterday's (and last night's) heavy rain found its way off the hillside and into the burn. I slithered down the muddy little path between the trees to perch on a rock overlooking this dramatic section, and I wasn't disappointed. Most exhilarating!

My extra photos are of the skeletons of toadstools growing on a pile of chipped wood left by forestry workers at the side of the track. I saw them in their full succulence a couple of weeks ago; now they are like pallid ghosts. I've never seen them like this before. And the second extra is of the trees on the hillside below the Victorian Fernery in Benmore Gardens. The Gardens were closed today because of the danger from dislodged branches and the clearing up of post-gale debris, but the best view of this bit of autumn loveliness is from the road up the glen.

So a much more photogenic walk than I anticipated!
