The Old Forge (Wednesday 19th September 2018)

This time it was the high winds rather than rain that turned Decorating Wednesday back into Gardening Wednesday with Refna.

Work was concentrated on (but not exclusive to) the driveway bed at the top of the drive, which has gone through a major overhaul. I was going to label it as an '...After' picture but really it is more of a new 'Before...'.

Buddleia has been cut right back and partially uprooted; another buddleia dug up and transplanted; bindweed and other weeds and suckers have been pulled up; the driveway adjacent to the border has been cleaned up; plants from pots have been transplanted into the border and potted in and watered; bulbs put in; slates put back to suppress weeds until next spring; and my trailer completely refilled with green waste for recycling.

Marianne Faithfull with Nick Cave - The Gypsy Faerie Queen (2018)
From her forthcoming album Negative Capability. I can hear more shadows of the voice she had in the sixties, my favourite period of her work, in this than in her work from the seventies and beyond, and I think collaborating with Nick Cave works really well for Marianne Faithfull.
