inspired by white fairy lights

Last year, the Christmas lights in Wainwright's Yard were suspended across the walkway. They were a unique design incorporating huge curls of plywood. Unfortunately, the designer didn't reckon with the severe winds we had last December and some of them came adrift.

This year, the designer has played safe, and anchored spiky clusters of white lights firmly to the walls. The result is not so dramatic, but I find their skillful simplicity charming. It certainly put a spring in my step.
