Pilgrims
These are the annual pilgrims from St Fillan's kirk in Aberdour, who visited the island today on a chartered trip on the Maid of the Forth.
Actually, it is mostly a jolly on the cheap for the Aberdour residents, but none the worse for that.
A family which had got off the rival boat, the Forth Belle, a little earlier had asked me if there was an earlier boat they could return to South Queensferry on. I told them that they had to get the Forth Belle back, the boat-trip they had paid for.
Of course, when the Maid arrived to pick up the Aberdour people, this family snuck in among the 200-or-so pilgrims, hoping for a quicker ride home. I wish I could have seen their faces as the boat headed in the wrong direction. Only the skipper's kindness took them back to S Queensferry eventually, much later than if they had waited for the proper boat, of course...
