A day out in Glasgow

First I met D#1 at Glasgow City Mission to join a tour of their centre as part of the Open Doors weekend and hear about the amazing work they do to help the homeless and disadvantaged.

We then had lunch in the Wild Olive Tree café in Buchanan Street where a painting called 'The Last Supper' - see extra - was on the wall. It shows a group of homeless men in the Glasgow City Mission coming together for a meal. D#1 and I recognised the chap sitting front right, today helping as one of the volunteers at GCM, having turned his life around.

I then joined D#2 (Lulabel) on Glasgow Green to celebrate the Recovery Walk 2018 which acknowledges those recovering from addiction and/or mental health problems. There was a wonderful happy atmosphere with live music, dancing and free food; lots of families, lots of dogs, so many folk wanting to say hello to Mabel.

Of all the photos taken today this blip is my favourite, with the chihuahua licking its owner's face instead of facing the camera.

It has been an uplifting day hearing about the wonderful work that so many volunteers do to help others less fortunate than themselves.
