Sontoku In Chains

Ninomiya Sontoku was famous for overcoming adversity and his self study habbits.  There are statues of him here and there reading a book while walking.  Perhaps in a hundred years they'll have a statue of someone walking while looking at their phone.

This guy has been strapped to the floor presumably as an extra precaution against him failing in an earthquake.  It just seems a little wrong to chain him down considering the story
