The latest container ship CMA CGM Antoine de Saint Exupery in port at Southampton today is massive, and at 1,312 ft in length measures up to the length of three football pitches and still with a bit over.

The ship is French flagged and, built only this year, arrived at Southampton’s Container Terminal from Le Havre. She is heading for the Far East via Suez.

But not alone in the container terminal today; there also was her sister ship CMA CGM Alexander Von Humboldt, not quite so long, but only by a few feet.

Small wonder that the port of Southampton has an impeccable import and export world tradea s the UK’s second largest container terminal and Europe's most efficient container terminal.

The SCT 5 berth where the St Antoine was pictured is a relatively new 500 metre quay representing £110 million investment and capable of handling the largest vessels like these, in the world.
