Chalara notwithstanding.

A Tuesday afternoon in the wood.  Steady progress.  Although all the ash trees are dying from chalara, a stump cut just 3-4 weeks ago shows considerable vigour, putting up new stems already.  Unlike elm, which grows from old roots to over 30ft in our hedgerows before succumbing to Dutch elm disease,  the ash probably won't last a year before the chalara takes it out again.
