Low Tide at Girlsta Loch
A windy day and gales. It was pouring down for most of the morning, with a sunny afternoon. Back to rain this evening.
I was helping out on the museum desk in the morning. The same event continued today, and more setting up to be done. The afternoon was spent in the museum office. Plenty of orders to try and catch up with. A lazy evening at home, poor Sammy isn't even going out with the rain. Off to work in the pub later.
I nipped up to Girlsta for a walk at lunchtime. With the dry summer we have had, the loch has shrunk and revealing shores I've never seen before. Judging by the yellow gauge, you can tell it never usually goes this low! I heard reports that the fresh water levels have dropped to only 300 days left, but sure they'll fill up again over winter. The only place in Shetland to get drought is Skerries, usually. Taken at the south end of Girlsta Loch.
