La Vie à Quatre Roues! Jour 12

Cathédrale Saint-Gatien, Tours, Loire Valley

A warm sunny morning and a short walk from our campsite at Amboise to the station to take the train into Tours where we spent the day exploring the city. The Cathédrale Saint-Gatien, dating back to the 12th century, with some amazing 13th century stained glass windows, was the highlight of our visit to Tours. Place Plumereau (first extra), located in the pedestrianised centre of old Tours and lined with pretty half-timbered houses, came a close second, though I may have been influenced by a delicious lunch at a pavement crêperie! My second extra shows some more modern images of the city that caught my eye.

Back in Amboise , where the château was reflected beautifully in the Loire, and where I met a new furry purry friend (last two extras), we stopped off at a café to rest our feet and whet our whistle before heading back to camp to cook and watch the sun go down…
