Next breath it flew away

The morning started with a blush of red from the sun hidden behind clouds. I waited a couple of hours in the hope that the sun would shine, and the waders would come as the tide moved out. The wind was the biggest problem, feeling like it arose in the Antarctic. Perhaps that's why this Kotare  let me get relatively close before heading out to rocks further from the shoreline.

Back in Auckland mid afternoon to give S time to bake a birthday cake for daughter J. And then out for a meal.
