use your antennae

Looking at bugs again through a 100 macro and I see a small creature with large antennae. They are an extremely useful physical attribute when used properly. The word derives from a Latin term for a sail yard, the long spar that supports and spreads the sail on a sailing vessel. It protruded into the wind to support the sail catch the breeze. It assisted the sail "feel the air".
So often, in life, we encounter people with little evidence of social  skills those who are not using their "antennae" to read the situation they face - to "feel the air". 
There are people in my life who have helped me at difficult periods because they used their antennae well and picked up my cry for help. They weren't asked, they were "on receive mode". 
Through the intervention of such people are lives made better.
